EUROPEAN ILLUSTRATORS FORUM. Alla fiera del Libro per Ragazzi di Bologna, 14/17 aprile 2004 (pad.30, corsia A, n.50).

Il Forum Europeo degli Illustratori (EIF) e’ un coordinamento di recente fondazione che al momento raccoglie 13 associazioni di illustratori di 8 paesi e che comprende l’Aesopos greca, l’Associazione Illustratori italiana, Association of Illustrators (AOI) del Regno Unito, la norvegese Grafill, Illustrators of Ireland, irlandese, La Maison Des Illustrateurs francese, Svenska Tecknare dalla Svezia e la Federazione Spagnuola (FADIP) che include le cinque associazioni regionali di Madrid (APIM), Catalogna (APIC), dei Paesi Baschi (APIE), della Galizia (AGPI) e di Valenza (APIV).

Fondata grazie all’iniziativa dell’APIV di Valenza, il suo scopo e’ la salvaguardia dei diritti degli illustratori e la promozione su scala continentale dell’illustrazione attraverso l’azione coordinata delle associazioni partecipanti a livello locale e con una serie di iniziative comuni a livello internazionale, a cominciare con il Primo Incontro Transnazionale tenutosi a Valenza nell'ottobre 2003.

Il Forum Europeo degli Illustratori terra’ una conferenza stampa durante la Fiera del Libro per Ragazzi di Bologna e sara’ introdotto da Ferruccio Giromini, storico dell'immagine, scrittore e giornalista, il giorno venerdi’ 16 aprile alle 17.30. Seguira’ una breve presentazione quando una delegazione di rappresentanti dell’EIF presentera’ il Forum, i suoi obiettivi, speranze e idee per possibili progetti futuri. Verrà quindi siglato un documento costitutivo per sancirne il lancio ufficiale.

I delegati che parteciperanno all’incontro al Caffe’ degli Illustratori venerdi’ 16 aprile alle 17.30 sono: Nacho Casanova (presidente) and Carmen Castro (General Manager) dell’APIV, Anders Sunesson (international secretary) e Eva Leven (direttivo) di Svenska Tecknare, Andrea Minoja de La Maison des Illustrateurs, Paolo Rui (presidente), Libero Gozzini (vicepresidente) e Paolo D'Altan, dell’Associazione Illustratori e Maria Riuz (presidente) e Arnal Ballester dell’APIC.

Lo stand EIF per tutta la durata della Fiera del Libro di Bologna sara’ tenuto da membri appartenenti alle varie associazioni facenti parte del gruppo che potranno fornire qualunque notizia riguardo a EIF, fornendo inoltre materiale promozionale e dettagli su come contattare tutte le associazioni partecipanti.

EIF vorrebbe anche cogliere l’occasione per offrire i propri sinceri ringraziamenti all’APIV di Valenza e all’Associazione Illustratori italiana che col proprio duro lavoro e dedizione ci hanno permesso di arrivare a questo punto in così poco tempo.

Vorremmo inoltre ringraziare la Direzione della Fiera del Libro per Ragazzi di Bologna per l’aiuto, la gentilezza, per averci offerto lo stand e soprattutto per aver capito e creduto nel nostro progetto.

The European Illustrators Forum (EIF) is a recently founded network so far consisting of 13 illustrators associations from 8 countries including Aesopos from Greece, Associazione Illustratori from Italy, Association of Illustrators (AOI) from the UK, Grafill from Norway, Illustrators of Ireland, La Maison Des Illustrateurs from France, Svenska Tecknare from Sweden and the Spanish Federation (FADIP) which includes five regional associations from Madrid (APIM), Catalunia (APIC), Basque Country (APIE), Galitia (AGPI) and Valencia (APIV).

Established thanks to Valencia's APIV, its aim is the safeguard of illustrators' rights and the continental promotion of illustration through the co-ordinated action of member associations on a local level and with a series of common initiatives on an international level, beginning with the First Illustrators Transnational Rendezvous held in Valencia in October 2003.

The EIF will host a press conference during the Bologna book fair and will be introduced by Ferruccio Giromini, image historian, writer and journalist, on Friday April 16th at 17:30 at the Book Fair Illustrators' Cafe. There will follow a brief presentation when the delegation representing the EIF will introduce themselves, their objectives, hopes and ideas for possible future projects. The EIF will then sign a constitutive document to signify it's official launch.

The EIF stand at the Bologna Book Fair will be staffed for the duration of the event by members from the various associations in the group who will be able to field any questions about the EIF, and it will also feature promotional material and contact details for all of our constituent associations. It is situated at Pavillion 30, aisle A, n.50.

The EIF would also like to take this opportunity offer their sincerest thanks to the APIV (Valencia) and the Associazione Illustratori (Italy) whose hard work and dedication has been instrumental in getting us to this point in such a short space of time.

We would like to thank also the Organizers of Bologna Children’s Book Fair for their help, kindness, for offering us a stand and especially for understanding and believing in our project.
